Valentine's Day Promo

I hope you have not been waiting out for the promotion to buy my earrings. From now til 10th Feb, all creations would be available for a 10% discount. There will be some exceptions to this promotion:
1. Creations earmarked for Crafted With Love
2. Remakes & Customizations
3. Not valid in conjunction with other discounts or promotions

Other news
I'll be having a stall in conjunction with Angelicious Creations, Cream Indulge & Cheryl Bianca from the 9th - 15th Feb at the basement of Cineleisure. I will be bringing along some exclusive pieces to showcase (and to sell) during that period. Hope to see you there! Even if it is to say Hi, that would be a nice enough gesture for me. :)

Love,
Dawne

Carla / Candice - SOLD

Yes Carla looks like Candice, Candice looks like Carla. Unfortunately, Candice is happier than Carla right now. Or rather Carla is happier than Candice. I finally remembered the name to Candice, it was Carla. So the new Candice is Candice. Candice was requested for a remake of Carla (then Candice), however the order was not completed as the customer went missing, a phenomenon known as dead buyers. So Candice has been feeling rather sad for quite a while. I've decided to make her happy by donating the proceeds from her sale to charity. Maybe that'll buy her some karma points and improve her lot in life.

Rania

For those who like Raianne but prefer it in a stronger colour. Shell like pearls in burgundy atop sodalite nuggets. Rania means king like, the rich colours sure bring a touch of royalty and blue blood to your looks.

Retail Price: SGD16 / USD10.50

Raianne

Peridot jasper rounds and sodalite nuggets. Very simple design but exudes grace and feminity in volumes. If you notice the headpins aren't normal headpins, but it actually has a star design. Yes I think I need to take a photo to illustrate that to you. Pardon me.

Retail Price: SGD18 / USD12

My precious [cue smeagol voiceover]

Just received these yellow jade nuggets & sodalite nuggets from the US. It did take quite some time to arrive, and I thought it got lost along the way. Luckily no evil postman decided to keep the pretty stones for themselves.

Jade
A symbol of purity and serenity, it is delicate, but will not break - is beautiful, but not impermanent, it can be flawed with lines, but still pleasing. It is believed to radiate divine unconditional love and balance the emotions. Held in the hand it can improve judgment - ancient silk traders often held jade while bartering. A small piece of jade worn around the neck was said to dispel illness.

Chinese jade first arrived in the West during the sixteenth century, brought from Canton by the Portuguese. Today jade continues to be a symbol of love, virtue, and status. With Chinese carvings reaching the highest value. The best jade has a waxy, pearly appearance. Feeling cool and so smooth, it seems soft to the touch. Yet hard enough that pressure from a sharp knife will not leave a mark.

The most famous type of jade carved in China is from Burma, with shades of green, lavender, yellow, white and grey. These colors form over millions of years from minerals in the rock. Every piece of jade has a secret meaning. Discovering that meaning and the legends behind it is a very satisfying for those who practice this dying art.

Sodalite
Especially valuable for those in mental confusion – it helps rationalize decisions and calms the emotions. It also encourages self-expression, by uniting logical thought with the spirit and helping you realize that you don't have to do things the way you always have. And it’s been said that a piece of sodalite under the pillow can help you remember dreams.

I will credit you for the design, just drop me a mail at earringaddict@gmail.com Let's do something interesting for this year!

Tanya - SOLD

Tanya reminds me of christmas with the red and green and gold trim all over. Green shell beads topped with a pressed glass bead with gold trim, and a red glass disc capped with gold swarovski crystals. It's got this quirky charm somehow, which I can't quite explain.

Sheera - SOLD

It's rather amusing and ironic that Sheera means light and Sheila means blind. Well either way beautiful 15mm turqouise teardrops and pink shell beads for those who liked Sheila, here's another one to tempt you.

Bernadette [Update] - SOLD

[Update] Forgot to mention that these are my only pair of clay beads in this design. So it's a one piece only creation. Don't hesitate to grab it if it's already calling for your heart. Also cloisonne butterflies can be customised if you prefer the pair in one colour.

I've teamed these purple polymer clay beads with similar cloisonne butterflies, a black and a white. This kind of reminds me of chinese tales? mythology? (I can't think of the right word, if you can help me out) We chinese believe that there is a pair of black and white ghosts that come to collect your soul when you pass away. Also when you see moths/butterflies in your room it means that a soul has come back to look for you. Sorry for the rather dark twist towards these pretties. Especially the polymer clay beads with sparkles of pink and the sweet mocha-ish petals hiding shyly beneath the luxuriant green leaves.

Diandra

Diandra is an american name for unique and this piece sure lives up to it's name. The only 6 beautiful rose tile beads in the world by Karin and twisted black czech glass nuggets. When I was modelling it, it looked rather cool, something to wear to funk up your normal t-shirt and denim skirt combi or something with a nice white shirt with pants. Yep you can dress up and dress down with it. Unfortunately somehow we just didn't manage to get the effect. I've double threaded the beads on black stretchable thread. Will fit a 7" wrist, however there will be no lengthening of this cuff bracelet as these are the only 6 rose bloom tile beads in the world. Yep you heard it right, the only one.

[Update] I've now selfishly kept the only piece for myself. But only because someone paid for it in full. Hehe.

Sheila - SOLD

Sheila tops the pretty turquoise teardrops with a pearlescent shell bead. A pity the shell bead was overexposed and caught too much light. The shell beads are really pretty! Total length excluding earhooks: 4cm

Insect Love - SOLD

Nope no creepy crawlies, just some cute little dragonflies in pewter and acrylic, enameled ladybugs, pewter butterflies and small dainty pewter flowers. 6 3/4" in length, toggle closure. Wrist length can be customised. I can picture it sitting pretty on a young girl's wrist, or as the name of this creation suggests, someone who loves these little cute bugs.

Customizations

Customizations for a classmate's niece. I personally like the 1st bracelet especially that clear glass bead with pink waves through it. But I also like the 2nd bracelet for it's design, simply coz it is something different. =)

Luanne - Sold

Luanne uses 8mm pearls capped with 3mm gold bicone Swarovski crystals. Fully adjustable gold plated chain "rope" burning on both ends with mauve & cream Swarovski pearls. Earrings can be adjusted from a minimum of 5cm to a maximum of 7.5cm excluding earhooks. I've been toying with this "rope" design for some time in my mind, finally found the perfect piece to execute it. Perhaps more to come!

Lucille - SOLD

Hopefully you can see this picture clearly. Lucille's focal uses 8mm Swarovski pearls capped with 3mm gold bicone Swarovski crystals. A chain of love letters hang below in crystal, white opal, black diamond and jet envelopes. Earhooks & chain are gold plated. Length excluding earhooks: 4.5cm.

Rozene - SOLD

Jonquil, light rose & fire opal Swarovski crystals resemble sunshine cheer dangling off clay roses. Earhooks, hoop & chain are gold-plated. Length excluding earhooks: 3.5cm. Rozene is Violet's cousin, gold hoop can be excluded and vice versa.

New Links & Updates

I've posted up a new link, Angelicious Creations on the left. She does rather nifty wirework stuff and they're really pretty! She provides lessons on wirework as well, if you're interested drop her an email or something. Support local crafts!

Another link is Karin's Kamoe-Clay Design, she is the source of the beautiful polymer clay beads that you see on my works recently. If you buy a polymer clay creation you're supporting two crafters, what a wonderful way to 'pay it forward'.

I'm still thinking of whether I should come up with a Valentine's Day collection as my brain doesn't seem to be churning out ideas that are related to V-day when I stare at my beads. I'm still making earrings, just not very V-day-ish. There will be V-day promos, just let me get down to working it out while juggling my school work, so give me a bit of time. Customizations are available, but try to drop me an email earlier so that I don't get too jammed up nearing the date, as I'd be submitting assignments around that time too.

In the meantime look around, drop me an email, leave a comment, make contact. =)

Love,
Dawne

Irena - SOLD

Irena is yet another polymer clay creation with a name of german origin. I've topped the ice bloom lentils with black diamond, alabaster & crystal bicone swarovski crystals.

Monday, January 15, 2007

Carlotta - SOLD

Update: I've changed the crystal that topped the polymer clay from rose alabaster to fuchsia.

I've named this pair of earrings Carlotta, a name of german origin, because the polymer clay beads were handmade by a talented german lady, Karin. Also Carlotta being the name of one of the characters to my favourite musical, Phantom of the Opera. The polymer clay lentils are capped with gold and fuchsia crystals of different sizes. Right at the top of it all is a glass bead with colour swirls that match the colours used in the polymer clay bead. Frankly speaking the glass bead was the first batch of beads that I bought and I thought I'd never be able to use it at all. Amazingly it match the beautiful polymer clay beads so well. A very plesant surprise indeed. Karin describes her lentil beads the best, "Pink/red flowers, green leaves and aquablue swirled on a frost and icy light blue basic. Look at the silver foil to give the imagination of crackling ice ;-))"

Kawena - SOLD

Kawena means sunrise in hawaiian and this bracelet is a bright cherry piece for hitting the beaches to catch the sunrise. A matching bracelet for Caribbean Dreams, this bracelet uses similar materials with the addition of a treasure chest charm, topaz and gold bicone swarovski crystals, red resin bead, light colorado topaz round swarovski crystal. The highlight still belongs to the 15mm turquoise teardrop, which accompanied by the shell beads brings to mind images of white sandy beaches and clear blue water. Gold plated chain will be adjusted accordingly to your wrist.

Trina - SOLD

Trina is a blue-themed earring with a blue pressed glass cube with gold trimmings, blue czech glass beads and tensha with blue rose blooms. They are the exact length although the right looks a little shorter due to the card it was hung on. Total length excluding ear hooks: 4cm

Eliyana - SOLD

Eliyana hangs a 15mm turquoise teardrop within a gold plated teardrop frame on dainty french hooks. These pretty turquoise teardrops are rather rare, since most of the time I only see them in other shapes. So I was rather delighted to find these teardrops in such good quality during my Christmas trip to KL.

Turquoise have been worn as natural protection against the powers of darkness in the past. In modern gemstone therapy, those suffering from depression are recommended to wear a turquoise or a chain with turquoise beads. The turquoise' cheerful colour is said to endow reticent personalities with more confidence. It is also often given as a gift, a stone of friendship, for the turquoise is said to be responsible for faithfulness and constancy in relationships.

Caribbean Dreams - SOLD

Doesn't this piece evoke images of white sandy beaches as you bask in the warm sunshine with a pina colada in hand soaking up the idyllic atmosphere of the caribbean beaches. This beauty will attempt to seduce you from the real world with a combination of pink shell beads, a 15mm turquoise teardrop, 14K gold charm & a creamy white pearl. Chain available separately.

Eliza - SOLD

Eliza is such a cutie who refused to allow me to pigeon hole her, instead letting you choose what you want to turn her into. A pair of earrings? A bag or handphone charm? Or a pendant with a gold hoop around her? She says I don't get to choose. A japanese maroon glass bead is the evil bead putting ideas into Eliza's head. Cloisonne butterfly dangles a 6mm light azore swarovski crystal, that insists on a pink butterfly glass bead as company. Chains are 14K gold plated. Total length of Eliza: 4.5cm.

Lisa - SOLD

Lisa's white cloisonne ring holds a gold spacer bead, creamrose swarovski pearl and a gold bicone swarvoski crystal. While creamish white pearls of different sizes, with the slightly bigger accented by another gold swarovski crystal, dangles of the ring of treasures. I will try to take another picture that will capture the gold tone of the crystal inside the coin. But the weather doesn't seem to be cooperative these few days. -cross fingers- Total length excluding ear hooks: almost 4cm.

Jonelle - SOLD

Jonelle has been updated with a star shaped head pin instead of the normal flat headpins previously. Jonelle marries cloisonne and ceramic beads for a somewhat peranakan look. Kinda chinois without screaming chinese new year.

Present for the little girl

This bracelet is a birthday present for my little cousin. She'll turn 6 this year on saturday. Very sweet little darling who hugs me and showers me with love all the time. I've used czech baby blue glass beads, green acrylic beads with silver stars, pink ceramic beads spaced with light pink seed beads for this creation. Find it quite sweet, hopefully it doesn't slip off her wrist as the accomodations for an adult's wrist and a child's wrist for bracelets are slightly different. Must remind myself to bring a camera to take some pictures this saturday. Her mom's a talented crafter as well, the box in the picture for Sakura was made by her, she used to make lovely embossed cards and she bakes wonderful cakes and muffins! I am so lucky to have them as my family. =)

Sakura - SOLD

A dainty black quartz teardrop dangling off the black cloisonne ring with pretty cherry blossoms that marks the arrival of spring. Right timing for these pretty blooms. Cherry blossoms are a symbol of ephemeral beauty in Japan. Hopefully this serves as a reminder to us all that beauty does not last and like life, transient, and to cherish what we have now rather than til it's gone.

Lavinia

A gold twist frame encases the pretty pearls that a classmate of mine, AT, gave to me. I've used french hooks to hold up these elegant beauties. Simply stunning and very pretty for evening wear.

Gina - SOLD

Gina's beauty lies in the japanese glass bead that is similar to Renetta's. I simply love the details of the beads with it's white streaks and varying red hues. This time it's capped with gold bicone swarovski crystals with a creamrose swarovski pearl. The pearl looks a little mauve in the picture but it's really more brownish (a leeeeeeeeetle bit). I can't find the right colour to describe the actual colour.

Johanna - SOLD

Think Johanna looks and sounds familiar? That's because you've seen her from before. Only thing is she's gone for a makeover and looks more demure now. Baby blue czech glass beads, pretty bloom on the tensha bead with turquoise and rose alabaster swarovski crystals adorning the dainty feet of Johanna.

Beatrice - SOLD

Beatrice looks regal in the deep royal blue tone and I have to admit I've fallen in love with blue once again. You know how when you were young, everybody's favourite colour was blue so was yours. A very simple creation, I've allowed the cloisonne beads to steal your breath while the lapis lazuli bead sits on top quietly, like a demure princess waiting for her prince charming to come. Princess Beatrice won't settle for anything less.

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Celeste - SOLD

Celeste uses czech faceted white glass beads interspersed with pink glass donuts and capped with milky white rice beads. All beads strung on rhodium 2.5cm diameter hoop. Simple and pretty hoops which would definitely brighten up your outfit simply by smiling daintily on your ears.

Monday, January 01, 2007

Violet - SOLD

Violet uses clay roses and different coloured crystals hanging off a single 14K gold plated chain. Very spring fresh and sweet. As the weather turns drier, the roses bloom into beauties for the new year ahead. Cousin of Rozene, gold hoop can be added.

Candice

Wooden hoops with glitter encircling three different coloured pearls. The cream coloured potato pearl is obscured by the burgundy and bronze pearls. Didn't have another chance to take another photo as I've already gifted this to a relative for Christmas. Hopefully she likes it. In fact I was so forgetful that I can't even remember the name of the earring, since Candice is the first name that popped into my mind, Candice it is.

Happy New Year

May the New Year usher in peace and the hope of new beginnings! We've just placed on order for beautiful Kamoe-Clay beads from Karin in Germany. Beautiful beginnings for beautiful days ahead! The FAQ section is finally up and if you'd like any features, just drop me a mail and I'll see what I can do. Back to making earrings.

Love,
Dawne
